Tracer dynamics in one dimensional gases of active or passive particles

چکیده

We consider one-dimensional systems comprising either active run-and-tumble particles (RTPs) or passive Brownian random walkers. These are noninteracting have hardcore exclusions. study the dynamics of a single tracer particle embedded in such system - this may be passive, with exclusion from environmental particles. In an environment, both and tracers show long-time subdiffusion: displacements scale as $t^{1/4}$ density-dependent prefactor that is independent type, differs corresponding result for passive-in-passive subdiffusion. environment particles, results recovered at low densities tracers, but transient caging effects slow motion higher densities, delaying onset any regime. For we find more complex outcomes, which depend on details dynamical discretization scheme. interpret these by studying density distribution around tracer. particular, sticking to cause it move slowly than interacting environments, while anomalous behaviour active-in-passive cases stems `snowplough' effect whereby large pile diffusive accumulates front RTP during ballistic run.

Dynamics of Passive and Active Particles in the Cell Nucleus

Inspite of being embedded in a dense meshwork of nuclear chromatin, gene loci and large nuclear components are highly dynamic at 37°C. To understand this apparent unfettered movement in an overdense environment, we study the dynamics of a passive micron size bead in live cell nuclei at two different temperatures (25 and 37°C) with and without external force. In the absence of a force, the beads...

Non-equilibrium coherence dynamics in one-dimensional Bose gases.

Low-dimensional systems provide beautiful examples of many-body quantum physics. For one-dimensional (1D) systems, the Luttinger liquid approach provides insight into universal properties. Much is known of the equilibrium state, both in the weakly and strongly interacting regimes. However, it remains a challenge to probe the dynamics by which this equilibrium state is reached. Here we present a...

Dipolar gases in coupled one-dimensional lattices.

We consider dipolar bosons in two tubes of one-dimensional lattices, where the dipoles are aligned to be maximally repulsive and the particle filling fraction is the same in each tube. In the classical limit of zero intersite hopping, the particles arrange themselves into an ordered crystal for any rational filling fraction, forming a complete devil's staircase like in the single tube case. Tur...

Active and passive Brownian motion of charged particles in two-dimensional plasma models.

The dynamics of charged Coulomb grains in a plasma is numerically and analytically investigated. Analogous to recent experiments, it is assumed that the grains are trapped in an external parabolic field. Our simulations are based on a Langevin model, where the grain-plasma interaction is realized by a velocity-dependent friction coefficient and a velocity-independent diffusion coefficient. In a...
